Charles, known for his chilling and unforgettable portrayals, passed away peacefully at the age of 85 after a brief illness. His passing leaves a significant void in the hearts of fans and colleagues alike, but his legacy lives on through his remarkable body of work.
Charles’s talent for captivating audiences with his powerful performances will remain etched in our collective memory. One of his most iconic roles was that of Sheriff Leigh Brackett in John Carpenter’s 1978 classic Halloween, where he portrayed the no-nonsense lawman of Haddonfield, Illinois.
Charles reprised the role in the 1981 sequel Halloween II, and, much to the delight of fans, made a triumphant return as Sheriff Brackett in the 2021 film Halloween Kills. His appearance in this third installment of the franchise was both surprising and heartwarming, as it allowed long-time fans to see him once again inhabit the character that had become such an integral part of horror film history.
Reflecting on his experience with the Halloween franchise, Charles expressed his deep gratitude for being able to return to the role that had such a profound impact on his career.
