He made a house of only 89 squares, but wait until you see the inside

At just 13 years old, Luke Thiull from Iowa defies the typical teenage mold by building his own house in his parents’ backyard. Unlike most kids his age, who are often preoccupied with technology, Luke set out to create his dream home, a project that cost him around $1,500. The 89-square-foot house features electricity and a loft bed, offering him his own space to relax and do homework.

Luke’s project began with a simple desire to build a small house, sparked by boredom and a keen interest in construction. Over the course of a year, he worked hard to raise funds by mowing lawns, holding online fundraisers, and doing various jobs. He also used 75% recycled materials, including items from his grandmother’s house and a front door from his uncle’s friend. With help from a friend skilled in electrical work, Luke was able to install electricity in his house in exchange for clearing out a garage.

Luke’s parents supported his project, with his father, Greg, emphasizing the importance of teaching life lessons. While Luke contributed most of the money and effort, the project serves as both a personal accomplishment and an inspiration for others. Luke plans to build a larger house for when he starts college and hopes his story encourages other kids to pursue their goals with determination.
